Hi there, little olive,
Emma Francois teaches first-year and fashion writing at George Washington University and American University, where she also earned her MFA in Creative Writing with a focus on hybrid genres. Her journalistic work—about fashion, the environment, and love—has appeared in numerous magazines and publications including The Washington Post, Golf Digest, Washington City Paper, USA Today, and Washingtonian Magazine. Her Pushcart Prize-nominated short story, “This Small Rock,” received an annual Editor’s Prize from Melissa Scholes-Young and is published in the 2023 Anthology of DC Women Writers, Grace & Gravity. In 2024, her unpublished manuscript, Glints, was a Finalist for the Chautauqua Janus Prize for emerging writers. Her creative nonfiction has appeared or is forthcoming in The Citron Review, Glint Literary Journal, and The Inquisitive Eater. When not journaling, you can find her telling off squirrels in her backyard bird feeder, playing with watercolors, or dealing a round of solitaire.
